School Notes:
The Hill Center Academic Program, a K-12 school approved by NCDPI and accredited by SACS and SAIS. We are a nationally-recognized model program for students with learning differences and attention deficit disorders. With the Orton-Gillingham approach as its foundation, and precision teaching as the format for charting and graphing student progress, the Hill Methodology is a comprehensive system of individualized multisensory instruction. At The Hill Center, K-12 students receive instruction in reading, written language, math and foreign language in half-day classes with a 4:1 student/teacher ratio. Hill Center students spend the other half of their school day at their public or private school, to which they typically return full-time after two to three years.
We are equally committed to helping students with learning differences outside the walls of The Hill Center through our Outreach Programs, which provide professional development for teachers and administrators from around the world. We also consult with others interested in replicating The Hill Center experience in public and private schools. Through our internationally accredited PREP Program, we offer four levels of teacher certification in Hill Methodology that meet the competency standards of the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC). Teachers may also pursue a Certificate in Teaching Diverse Learners that helps general educators better serve the needs of students with learning differences in the regular classroom and enhances their ability to offer differentiated instruction.
In addition, The Hill Center provides Student Enrichment opportunities, Tutoring, and Summer School programs for the broader community.
