School Notes:
- The Preschool Program emphasizes the development of the social, emotional, and academic skills and components that a child develops as they mature in the egocentricity of very early childhood into more reciprocally interactive behaviors. Students learn through self-initiated and directed activities and play, while weekly theme units constitute the core of the integrated curriculum. Core curriculum includes language, fine and gross motor skills, art, socialization, self-help, perception, pre-math, science, sensory experiences, music, dramatic play, and children's literature. Skills in visual and auditory recognition, sequencing, and memory are introduced and expanded according to individual needs and abilities. A Preschool Performing Arts program encourages each child to find his/her artistic strengths and talents, promotes the development of kinesthetic learning, and facilitates social and emotional growth. Social and emotional growth are encouraged through decision making, problem solving, recognizing and taking care of one's own needs, expressing one's feelings, group participation, recognizing and being sensitive to the needs and feelings of others and dealing with conflict. Experiences of each student reinforce the joy in learning and the awareness of growing independence and autonomy.
