George School

Box 4000 Rt 413, Newtown, PA, 18940-0189
Established in 1893 by the Religious Society of Friends, George School is a coeducational boarding and day school of 540 students in grades 9 through 12. The George School community, committed to Quaker ideals, cultivates respect for differences by affirming the Light of God in everyone. We teach our students to aspire to excellence as we prepare them for further education and a lifetime of learning as members of the global community. At George School, our approach to education is shaped by two fundamental goals: to be faithful to Quaker values and to meet the intellectual, social, and developmental needs of all of our students, educating them in mind, body, and spirit. We distinguish ourselves with an educational philosophy rooted in the faith and practice of the Religious Society of Friends. Friends believe that God's truth continues to reveal itself and that everyone is a potential channel for that revelation. The idea that every human being possesses an Inner Light inspires our approach to learning and spiritual development, our style of interpersonal relations, and our approach to community life and decision-making.
