Germantown Academy

At Germantown Academy, we expertly pair the best from tradition, as in our discussion-based Harkness Tables in the Upper School, with the best in innovation, as in our dynamic new Lower School Tinker Lab and incredible all-school Beard Center for Innovation, to provide our students with a truly extraordinary education to last a lifetime.
Our mission statement - to inspire students to be Independent in Thought, Confident in Expression, Compassionate in Spirit, Collaborative in Action, and Honorable in Deed is alive in our classrooms, science labs, stages, and fields every day. GA fosters a genuine love of learning and creates an exceptional academic, artistic, athletic, and social experience for our students.
Our Kids Teaching Kids science program, college-based Writing Center, award-winning Belfry Club (the nation's oldest, continuously-run high school drama club), school-wide community service program, and robust 6-12 athletics program that competes in the Inter-Academic Athletics League are just a few examples of how we engage students, help them find and pursue their passions, and develop leaders within an active and diverse community.
At GA, our students are valued for their own unique gifts, parents are committed partners, and dedicated, talented teachers care deeply about helping each student succeed, because Anything is Possible Starting Here.

School Notes

  • "There is no one size fits all approach to learning at GA, and the kids feel it! From visionary leadership to engaged teachers who are passionate about igniting young minds, GA radiates a dynamic energy throughout its campus. An authentic dedication to the natural world sets GA apart and outdoor learning spaces compliment a program that balances traditional classroom learning with a "get muddy, be creative, collaborate in the dirt hands on approach" that kids love. The emphasis on collaboration, entrepreneurship and global citizenship, prepares children to meet the challenges of today`s changing world. My boys are becoming confident, curious, creative and most important caring people and they are excited about the opportunities ahead of them." Allison D., Chestnut Hill, PA

GA has provided our daughter with an incredible "love to learn" foundation. Starting in kindergarten to present (11th grade) she has been engaged, challenged & focused with the help of her amazing teachers. Allowing her to be a creative, independent, thoughtful and collaborative student. Daily, she is eager to assemble in her subjects in an atmosphere that is so supportive. With college just about on the horizon, we are confident she is well equipped with the fundamentals GA will have supplied over her 13 years. Our Patriot has also participated in the plethora of extracurricular activities the school offers, from clubs to the stage, to sports. We couldn't be happier. #1759forLife

When I was looking for a school for my 5 year old BOY, I was stumped until I walked onto GA's campus. The tour, the teacher, and the admissions personnel were all fabulous. My son was unable to read or understand the alphabet sounds, but socially he was fantastic. They have worked with him to achieve his main goal of being academically confident and I can say now being in 3rd grade he is proficient in ready and is loving GA! We have found a home.
