A charity golf tournament Wednesday at the Gila River Wild Horse Pass Hotel and Casino brought out emerging baseball stars and Hall of Fame veterans to help underprivileged students receive a college education.

Shane Victorino is in the midst of a memorable November. The Philadelphia Phillies center fielder just played in his second consecutive World Series. Unfortunately, the Phillies came up short to the New York Yankees in six games. In 2008, Philadelphia beat the Tampa Bay Rays for the title.

Daniel Rubin: Maestro the Lion was created by Tom Elliot, head of Lower Merion's high school orchestra program, to build future musicians and audiences. Watching the program in action this week, I marveled at the students' engagement.
