Founded in 1838, Sewickley Academy is the oldest coeducational, independent, private school in Pittsburgh. A college-preparatory day school located approximately 12 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, Sewickley Academy enrolls approximately 740 students in prekindergarten through grade 12. All grades are located on a single 16-acre campus, with an additional 14 acres nearby containing athletic fields and tennis courts. A $15 millon construction project, completed in 1999, brought dramatic changes to the appearance of the campus. New additions include a freestanding Middle School, library for grades 6-12, separate early childhood center and play area. Extensive renovations were made to the Senior School and Lower School buildings.
