    Keep Etowah Beautiful, which recently wrapped up its annual cleanup campaign, had its awards breakfast Tuesday. Clean Campus Certification awards were presented to area schools. In the Attalla system, schools receiving awards were Curtiston Elementary, Stowers Hill Elementary, Etowah Middle and Etowah High.

    A Cherokee County man was driving the wrong way on a four-lane highway when he crashed head-on into a Jeep, killing a passenger and injuring the Jeep’s driver, Gadsden police said.

    St. James Catholic Church observed the Feast of St. Joseph Saturday by continuing an age-old Sicilian custom - the St. Joseph’s altar. Sicilians who settled in this area at the turn of the century brought to America and to Gadsden this tradition. Their descendants, in various forms of thanksgiving, have observed it ever since.
