DANVILLE - The end for the Danville Hawks didn’t come without a fight. Danville’s defense limited Madison Academy to just one first-half touchdown in the 21-3 loss in the opening round of the Class 3A state playoffs at Bill Washington Stadium.

We have reached the 3rd round of the playoffs. Clay County, Piedmont, Cherokee County and Handley remain with a chance to reach the big dance in Tuscaloosa. This round will contain some very tough matchups.

Class 3A Madison Academy entered Tuesday night hoping to avoid its second straight loss to a 6A opponent to open its girls basketball season. Deep shooting threat Haley Stewart helped make sure the Lady Mustangs did just that.
