Flint Hill School

3320 Jermantown Road, Oakton, VA, 22124-0221
Our commitment is to develop in a caring community an individual who seeks excellence and embraces the "Driving Spirit" of Flint Hill School. At the heart of the Flint Hill philosophy is the belief that the community life of the school inspires students to respect individual differences in social, intellectual, racial and religious backgrounds while enjoying the rich experience of being bound together by service to the shared life of the school. Students who establish deep and lasting friendships through caring for others, who take responsibility for maintaining the high quality of campus life, will experience a truth of lasting value: that the Flint Hill experience is not merely a stepping stone to college, but one that has lifelong meaning and deep satisfaction.

School Reviews:

  • Recommended January 31,2013 - 1100 students at this school. The high school is on a different campus, separate form the younger students. Classes are never more than 18 students. Great facilities. Warm, caring teachers. Very supportive environment. One unique thing that separates this school from all others is their differentiate learning. Private schools in this area tend to have a cookie cutter approach to learning and teaching so they can only admit kids who test very high in every single subject. Those are the easiest students to teach! Flint Hill will work with students who excel in math and need a fast pace but struggle in English and need a slower pace, or vice versa. Flint Hill is the most supportive of the academically accelerated private schools in the area and the most academic of the private ''supportive'' schools in the area. Having said that, Flint Hill is not a special needs school. Services at Flint Hill vary based on the developmental expectations of each division, resources available, the needs of individual students, and the recommendations of professionals. Graduates from each class go to a very wide variety of colleges. The top students in each class will gain admission to Ivy Leagues (Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Cornell, University of Pennsylvania, etc). Other graduates go on to UVA, William and Mary, Bucknell, Villanova, Lehigh, Elon, College of Charleston, etc... And other students who need more support will go to on to smaller colleges that offer the support that student needs to succeed. It all depends on each individual''s ability combined with their work ethic.*-Posted by Parent *

Make Summer a Special Time! Make Summer a Special Time!
If you have children in private school, then you are most likely looking at three months, perhaps even longer, which you must fill with activities of one kind or another during the long summer break.

Are You Liable? Are You Liable?
Is your DEL key about to get gaveled? It doesn't matter whether you teach in a public or private school setting. You expose yourself to legal risks every single day on the job.
