Farmville’s private Fuqua School—formerly the segregated Prince Edward Academy—remains a barrier to racial reconciliation in the area, said a speaker at a forum here. The Rev. Eric B. Griffin Sr., son of a civil-rights leader, said Fuqua should consider shutting itself down to help racial healing in Prince Edward County, which closed its public schools to avoid desegregation 50 years ago.
