School Notes:

  • Madeira's challenging and innovative academic program prepares each girl to succeed as she moves into the world of higher education at its most demanding. The proof of this experience is easy to recognize in Madeira’s graduates, women who have gone on to make a difference in the world and in the lives of those around them.

The award winning Co-Curriculum Program is at the core of Madeira's educational philosophy. Every Wednesday, students learn from experience. Freshman learn about community, self, and collaboration through team-building activiteies. Sophomores engage in service projects at local schools and centers. Juniors intern on Capital Hill. And seniors choose from more than 300 internship placements. At every level, girls gain the experience needed to launch successful lives.

With Washington, D.C. is 15 minutes away, students take advantage of shopping in Georgetown, movies at Tysons Corner, and dim sum in Chinatown. The 20 other independent boarding and day schools (including all-boys and co-ed schools) nearby provide plenty of social opportunities on the weekends.

Make Summer a Special Time! Make Summer a Special Time!
If you have children in private school, then you are most likely looking at three months, perhaps even longer, which you must fill with activities of one kind or another during the long summer break.

Are You Liable? Are You Liable?
Is your DEL key about to get gaveled? It doesn't matter whether you teach in a public or private school setting. You expose yourself to legal risks every single day on the job.
