The ISC is a language-immersion school offering a structured early-childhood education program with classes in French or Spanish.  Children from age 2 through Kindergarten learn French or Spanish as a natural part of their school day.  Classes are small, and led by experienced teachers, most with advanced degrees.

School Notes:

  • The International School of Charlottesville offers the best in preschool education within a foreign language environment. The language center in the brain undergoes the greatest development in the first years of life. Exposing a child to a second language at an early age broadens cognitive ability in later years and encourages multicultural awareness.

    At the ISC, the new language is not introduced as a separate subject but is an intrinsic part of the daily experience. Our experienced teachers communicate with the children predominantly in the target language. As the children learn and play in this environment, the target language gradually becomes their preferred means of communication at school.
