School Notes Overview: |
At Countryside, the philosophy is to build on the special qualities that the children already have. We strive to help them develop a sense of independence and continuous growth. The Montessori Method is based on a personalized approach to education. Every area of learning entices the child to explore and grow. The guidance found in Montessori classroom exists through one’s self and supported by the adults. The self-directed materials and freedom that is provided in the classroom maintain “ground rules” for conduct and behavior. In addition to this, the Montessori teacher is a constant model and example for the children. The teacher’s role in discipline is also apparent in the way in which materials are offered and demonstrated. Problem-solving (conflict resolution) in preventing problems is a guide to self discipline. ...read more
