The Schafers have faced challenges before. “When Wal-Mart came to Chippewa, we were with Supervalu,” said Jeff Schafer, who manages the daily operations of three Gordy’s County Market stores in Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls. “They said when Wal-Mart came we had to cut 20 to 25 percent of our budget.”
