Have you ever heard the name Mr. Ron Clark? Ron was the 2002 Disney Teacher of the Year. Allow me to digress for a minute to tell you how he achieved that honor.
His mother prodded him to take a teaching position in a small town in North Carolina. He promised his mother that he would go for the interview but would not take the position...that is until a young boy in the class that would eventually be his looked up at him and asked him if he would be their next teacher. He was, and through his positive role model and upbeat teaching techniques, the impact that Ron had on those children is lasting still today.
Mr. Clark then proceeded to move to Harlem, New York, to accept yet another challenge. He applied for a position that had seen teachers come and go on an almost weekly basis. As he was applying, the principal yes, the principal told Ron that all he had to do was keep the classroom from erupting. Ron did one better. Through hard work, commitment to excellence, and an ability to find ways to communicate with his students, a difference was made. This class, who scored horribly on their standardized tests, were now the highest scoring class in the entire school. As a matter of fact, when twelve of his students applied for entrance into the best middle school in New York (Manhattan East), each and every one of those children who many people had given up on were accepted (only 30 students total are accepted each year).
Ron Clark stressed the fact that you have to make experiences real for the children (In one year he took over 300 field trips. Now while I do not advocate 300 field trips, I do push for field trips to do that very thing that Ron stresses.). You have to teach the students manners and respect. You have to make common goals that challenges the entire class to strive for the top.Trinity Lutheran School aims for those very same things that Mr. Clark emphasizes. We as a faculty want to energize those students who come before us every day with a love of learning a love that will last a lifetime. But we go a step beyond what Ron does because, you see, Ron does not and has not taught in a Christ-centered school. Day in and day out we bring before your child the one thing that is truly needed in this earthly life and that one thing is God`s Word.
Twelve years ago, Ron Clark took that first step toward making a difference in the lives of the young people that were brought to his classroom. You make that first step as well. By enrolling your child at Trinity Lutheran School, you with your own eyes can see what a difference a Christian Education can make in your son`s or daughter`s life.
