Love this little school! No Common Core curriculum. Instead they continue to use two nationally recognized curriculums. Teach phonics and cursive writing. No revisionist history. High academic standards. PVCS students are at least a year ahead of public school kids. We experienced this personally. Got tired of commuting, so put them in public school. Three weeks later we were back at PVCS. Kids'' behavior and language went downhill, they were bored in classes, and came home talking about dating/sexual advances they''d received (they are boys in 1st-3rd grade!). Heavy emphasis in reading (phonics-based starting in pre-school) and writing. This little school consistently has winners in the state Young Authors and science fair competitions. Jr. & Sr. high students currently participate in public school sports as the school doesn't have the population to have their own teams. Music , art, and library are included in the curriculum. There are some trade offs going with a small private school (mostly because it isn't supported by tax dollars), but PVCS is worth it.
