West Valley Middle School

Tel: (408)985-2138
Grades: 5-8 | 106 students
In September of 1996 West Valley Middle School opened its doors. Complementing Primary Plus Elementary, WVMS offers academics and extended care to students in grades 5th through 8th.
We set high academic expectations and our middle school programs consistently outperform other schools by scoring in the 90th plus percentile academically.
We stress delivering a balanced, fun learning experience, and students learning at their own pace.
We encourage participation in a myriad of extracurricular activities.
Our successful academic program has placed many students into the valley's best high schools.
With enrollment of approximately 100, we offer small classes while maintaining a sense of community. Mathematics focuses on algebra as early as sixth grade, integrating it into a conceptual program which also ensures strong basic skills.
Language arts and social studies teachers work closely, allowing these complementary subjects to dovetail.
Science requires skills in both language and math.
At WVMS, the focus is on discovery learning through a hands-on-approach.
We offer classes in art, Lego-Robotics, wood-working, physical education and Spanish. Each 7th and 8th grade student at West Valley has a designated iPad, while the 5th and 6th grade students each have a laptop computer so that they can utilize technology and computers as a part of learning in all subjects.

School Notes:

  • West Valley Middle School offers a rich educational experience to children emphasizing small class sizes and a hands-on approach to learning.  Our school offers a variety of extracurricular activities within our regular program including Spanish, Dance, PE, daily electives, an all-inclusive sports program, and Life-Skill education.  Students at West Valley Middle School have access to the latest in technology including Smart Boards, LCD projectors in each class, a laptop for every student, and Document Viewers. In addition, our school offer extended day programs from 6:30am-6pm and we are open for non-academic days.
  • All students are warmly accepted and guided along their educational path throughout our program.  Bullying and “slipping through the cracks” simply do not happen at our school due to our small, family like atmosphere.  Students are held to high standards while enjoying school.  As a result, our 8th grade graduates go on to schools such as Archbishop Mitty, St. Francis, Notre Dame, Bellermine, and many others.
