River School

4880 Macarthur Blvd NW, Washington, DC, 20007
The River School was founded in April 1999 to provide successful educational experiences for children from 18 months through 3rd grade. The River School’s Innovative Model Includes: an Arts and Sciences focus - drama, visual arts, music, library, science, yoga and physical education are offered to children as young as 18 months; at thematic curriculum and a collaborative approach - promoting experiential learning; a unique teaching model - a master’s level educator is paired with a speech-language pathologist in each classroom providing an ideal setting for social and language and literacy development;  small class sizes - helping each child fulfill his or her innate potential; and low child-to-teacher ratio - providing individualized attention and the ability to nurture each child’s ideas and interests.  Our teachers create classroom communities that are child-centered, challenging and dynamic.
