East School

Po Box 15336, Portland, ME, 04112
East School helps students recognize and develop their potential to excel in math and science. We look to science to answer questions that deepen our experience of how we relate to our own backyard and to the universe. Our math program is highly individualized, with students working at their own pace. Students work in small groups to learn new concepts and then work independently to hone their mathematical reasoning and problem solving skills. The middle school years find a child at the crossroads between childhood and adolescence. Children in middle school are energetic, curious, and driven to experiment intellectually and artistically. East School provides an environment where it is safe to be curious, take risks, and make mistakes; a place where respect for one’s self, for others, for knowledge, and for the natural world is valued.
