School Notes:

  • God is the source of all truth and has revealed Himself in His Holy Word. That Word teaches that "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding."(Proverbs 9:10) (2 Timothy 3:16-17) "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." and that God's Word tells us all that His Word is a "lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path" (Psalm 119:105). Because of these truths, and as a Christian school committed to the spiritual and intellectual formation of its students, Volusia County Christian Academy asserts that all learning begins with and is held together by what God has revealed in the Bible. VCCA believes that shaping character and developing intellectual coherence in the historic Christian sense necessitates this approach to education. Because God's Word is "quick and powerful" (Hebrews 4:12), and because it says in (Isaiah 55:11) "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." VCCA's faculty is encouraged to cultivate a vibrant understanding of the Scriptures by reading through the entire Bible each year. Knowledge of the Scriptures provides a framework for integrating faith and learning in their respective disciplines and across the breadth of the curriculum. It also enhances the faculty's ability to be sensitive to the spiritual needs and curiosities of the students so that they can bring the Scriptures to bear on those issues and questions which confront our students both in and out of the classroom.
