Pinecrest School in Van Nuys is a co-educational private school, home to more than 500 students, ages 18 months through Eighth Grade. The fundamental purpose of Pinecrest Schools is to provide quality instruction based on the highest academic standards to preschool, primary, intermediate, and middle school students. Our learning environment is organized along traditional principles of education, although we do take full advantage of state-of-the-art technology and proven methods of instruction. Along with academic achievement, we stress the development of creativity, character development and good citizenship. These traits, important enough in their own right, are also mutually supportive. For instance, opportunities to be creative, to think clearly, constructively and independently, encourage a desire to learn. Strength in creative thinking combined with strength in academics develops good character. Good character is the foundation of good citizenship. At Pinecrest, we believe that every new experience is a crisis in self-esteem, and we keep this in mind as we challenge the skills of each student.
