BOSTON (AP) -- Massachusetts public health officials have confirmed 42 new cases of swine flu, bringing the total in the state to 235. Four of the new cases required hospitalization, raising the total number of people who have had to spent time in a hospital to 19.

The Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC) announced Thursday that the British School of Boston, a private school in Jamaica Plain, will close for seven days starting May 22 because of unusually high levels of influenza-like illness in recent days. Public health officials said they hope that the temporary closure will prevent new infections and avoid unnecessary illness.
