Perry Nursery School Of Ann Arbor
School Notes Overview:
Perry Nursery School began in 1934 in the depth of the Great Depression. Perry was started by Edith Badeer, Assistant Superintendent of the Ann Arbor Public Schools, as one of four Works Progress Administration Nursery Schools founded to assist children from depression-ridden homes as well as give employment to low income mothers hired to staff the nurseries. It was named Perry Nursery School because it was housed in the Perry Elementary School. To prepare preschool children, primarily from single-parent and low income families, to succeed in school, while their parents work or continue their education. At Perry, our program is not only the most affordable, but it is also of the highest educational quality for early childhood education. Perry follows the High/Scope curriculum and holds NAEYC accreditation, a privilege that only 8% of all childcare centers in the country have attained. Our head teachers all have at least a Bachelors degree and our assistant teachers all have at least an associates degree or CDA in early childhood education. The teaching staff is supported by a Program Director, a Social Worker, and a Child and Family Services Coordinator....
