Sand Paths Academy
School Notes Overview:
Sand Paths Academy, a private, fully-accredited, non-public school, has been serving children with special needs since 1968. We provide a comprehensive psycho-educational program for learning disabled and emotionally disturbed children and adolescents in grades 6 through 12. Our program is highly structured, and we use behavior management techniques which emphasize positive reinforcement and the teaching of new social skills. We have a 3:1 student to staff ratio, which allows us to provide each child with individual support to meet their academic and emotional needs. The goal of Sand Paths Academy is to establish an appropriate learning environment for each student in the program to enhance their individual learning style and to maximize their individual potential. Creating an atmosphere of warmth, trust, and autonomy for the student enables each to move forward academically by either understanding mitigating emotional blocks or by understanding and developing compensatory skills for learning disabilities. Included in the goal of Sand Paths is to provide maximal increased individualized academic, behavioral and/or emotional interventions to facilitate the students’ gradual successful transition into the least restrictive environment applicable. Ideally, we hope to assist each student to acquire the necessary skills to be successful after leaving Sand Paths, whether that means returning to public school, attending college, or entering the work force....
