It was the first laboratory school established in a black college.
The School provided experiences for children in physical, cognitive and psychosocial growth and development.
It served as a training center for parents; a practice field for college student; a research laboratory for graduate students in education and psychology, and an observation center of our children.
Spelman is part of the largest consortium of historically Black institutions of higher learning in the world.
Its four partner institutions include Clark Atlanta University, the Interdenominational Theological Center, Morehouse College and Morehouse School of Medicine.
Spelman shares cross-registration with its undergraduate partners.
