The Woolman Semester At Sierra Friends Center
School Notes Overview:
The Woolman Semester is a high school semester studies program for juniors, seniors, and 1st year postgraduates. Through a focus on the issues of peace, justice, and sustainability, the Woolman Semester enriches a typical high school curriculum with seminar-style course work and experiential opportunities that promote life-long learning, personal growth and intellectual commitment. Students and staff spend much of the day in small, rigorous academic classes, with substantial time devoted to the hands-on work of the community: the garden and orchard, the kitchen, and the forest. We engage with the world through community events, letter writing, multimedia presentations and public speaking. Sierra Friends Center is a non-profit organization committed to stewarding diverse learning communities and educational programs which weave together spirituality, peace, sustainability, and social action. Sierra Friends Center hosts the Woolman Semester, Sierra Friends Camp and visiting groups....
