La Cheim Schools are non-profit, non-sectarian, non-public schools, serving Special Education students aged 6-21, and specializing in helping children with emotional and behavioral issues that prevent them from succeeding in their home schools. La Cheim Schools' mission is to provide a safe, structured learning and therapeutic environment for students with educational, behavioral and emotional needs, affording an opportunity for academic, social and emotional growth. La Cheim means " to life! " The schools' mission and purpose are reflected their name. The founders of the organization started the school programs to help at-risk children and youth, who often had given up on themselves and their future. Our curriculum is based on the California State Department of Education's adopted curriculum and subject content standards. La Cheim Schools are certified by the California Department of Education to function as Non-Public Schools.
