Cedars Montessori was started in 1974 by Jill Young. It is staffed with AMI and AMS accredited teachers. The school is on 16 ½ acres of land southwest of the city in a rural residential area. Every classroom has a garden and access, in some degree, to the clearing, a 3-acre natural play area. The prairie hill, nature path, weather station, farm animals, soccer practice field and playground provide opportunities to be active in nature.
