School Notes:

  • ACADEMICS A strong academic program is at the core of Ryan Academy's purpose. To accomplish this, class sizes are small so teachers can truly know and accommodate the students' needs. Because we serve students in grades 1-12, it is possible for your child to benefit from a caring and supportive education from start to finish! In addition to the core subjects of reading, language arts, math, science and social studies, all students have the opportunity to receive instruction in foreign language, physical education, art, computers and music. We aim to provide a solid foundation for student learning within a strong community; develop skills and attitudes for successful life-long, independent learning; create an environment that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, problem solving, reflection and evaluation while emphasizing the intrinsic rewards and values of learning in daily work and through community service. EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES In addition to a strong, academic program, Ryan Academy offers a variety of sports and club activities. Our sports program has included basketball, cheerleading, bowling, baseball, softball, soccer and golf. High School clubs offer the opportunity for student participation in a wide variety of activities such as student council, band, yearbook publication, forensics, journalism, chess, drama, art and computers. VALUES The faculty of Ryan Academy strive to prepare students for the 21st century. Ryan students strive to be respectful, responsible and resourceful. Students are expected to be respectful to each other and their teachers, responsible for their behavior and their academic commitments, and resourceful and creative in their learning endeavors. Ryan Academy staff create an atmosphere where honest work is valued and rewarded. Lying, cheating, stealing, plagiarism, and drug or alcohol use are not accepted. COMMUNITY SERVICE We strive for students at Ryan to be a part of the world around them by remaining connected and engaged in our local community. This work prepares them with experience in many fields of work and instills the value of giving back to our local community. To this end, students have a community service requirement for graduation.
