Woodinville Montessori School is a diverse community of lifelong learners dedicated to the optimal intellectual, emotional, social, physical, ethical and spiritual development of each child using Montessori and contemporary methods.

Our community exists to nurture creative, conscientious and productive individuals committed to caring for themselves, one another and the environment in an ever-changing, global society.

Woodinville Montessori School is approved by the state of Washington through grade 12. Accreditation is a voluntary process that is undertaken by schools that are committed to continuous school improvement and compliance with certain standards. We are proud to be fully accredited through 12th grade by the Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS), and for students aged 18 months through 17 years by the American Montessori Society (AMS). These agencies establish and oversee standards of excellence for Montessori and independent schools. There are many levels of involvement with AMS and NWAIS, including full, associate, initiate and affiliate. Full accreditation means that the school practices the authentic educational philosophy and practices of Maria Montessori, and that it demonstrates compliance with the rigorous standards established by AMS and NWAIS. Jointly accredited by AMS and NWAIS since spring 2006, WMS is also the only school in the Northwest accredited through 12th grade by both organizations.

School Reviews

My son is in a lower elementary class (mixed age 1st-3rd grade class). I was immediately impressed with the school during our prospective student tour. The student guide, a 3rd grader assigned to my child, was well spoken and kind. The classroom was quiet; all the children were working independently or in pairs. They seemed very engaged. We enrolled our son for first grade. Our next experience with the classroom was on his birthday when my husband and I were invited to bring photos of our child from each year of his life. The kids sat in a circle while my son walked around the circle holding each photo. All the kids were so polite and asked many questions about the photo. Afterward, there were many kids that volunteered to help my son pass out his birthday treats. It was obvious that these kids are kind to each other. As of late; I have become even more impressed by the school's handling of COVID-19. The remote learning that started last spring was a smooth transition for us as parents and for my child. I enjoyed seeing my son's interactions with his teachers on zoom. They are patient and caring. They're able to teach difficult concepts—he was learning long subtraction with regrouping to a first grader over zoom! I appreciate the open communication lines I have with the teachers. Emails are answered very quickly (within the same day) and we are also able to communicate using the SeeSaw app. My son is now back in in-person school. I am so impressed by how safely and thoughtfully they have opened the school back up. WMS has been a blessing to our family.
