Summerhill School provides educational services for male students ages 13 – 18 years who need special education services. Students are admitted through an individualized education plan process coordinated through public school districts. Upon entry, each student undergoes diagnostic testing in reading, spelling, grammar, and mathematics. Instruction is always individualized at the student’s level of need. Our mission is to help students develop the vision, skills, and confidence to manage their own lives and contribute to society. Our goal is to assist each student to acquire coping skills, a positive attitude and important social skills while completing the course work and competencies needed to meet graduation requirements and transition into the adult world. Our instructional program utilizes the Escondido Union High School District adopted textbooks, curriculum and State Standards providing our students exposure to the same common knowledge base as the public school population. Students participate in required state and district testing. State credentialed teachers, counselors, and speech therapists assisted by teacher aides ensure that the IEP stated services are provided for each student.
