A man drove by and rolled down his window to say “I’m Jewish, did I kill Jesus? He was addressing a woman standing on the street corner holding four picket signs with a speaker blasting a song that repeats the words “God hates Jews.” She screamed back, “Yes you did!”

New ads by Councilman Jack Weiss accuse attorney Carmen Trutanich of defending environmental polluters. They cost Weiss the backing of L.A. County Sheriff Lee Baca. With nursery rhyme characters, giant inflatable rats and "high noon" debate challenges, it's getting hard to quibble with those who complain that the tone of the Los Angeles city attorney's race has gotten downright sophomoric.

The two candidates for Los Angeles city attorney hammer each other over ethics, legal clients and contributions to their campaigns. The two candidates vying to replace outgoing Los Angeles City Atty. Rocky Delgadillo clashed Wednesday night in another debate laced with personal attacks over their respective records on ethics, their legal clients and contributors to their campaigns.
