Founded in 1957, the Priory is a coeducational day and boarding school located in Portola Valley, California, 40 minutes south of San Francisco near Stanford University and Silicon Valley.  The Priory is an independent, Catholic, college preparatory school in the Benedictine tradition with an enrollment of 368 students in middle school and high school.
Today the 50-acre rural campus maintains its original tradition of being a small community by choice, dedicated to a values-centered and academically rigorous education.
The high school of 273 students includes a boarding program for approximately 50 students from the western United States and throughout the world.
International in flavor, this year, 27 flags fly in the Dining Hall, representing the home countries of Priory students over the years.
The educational experience is centered on the values of individuality, community, integrity, hospitality and spirituality.
Teachers encourage initiative, independent pursuit of knowledge, critical thinking skills and problem solving abilities.
The college prep academic program is supplemented with fine and performing arts, competitive athletics, service learning, and a strong program of co-curricular activities.
Classes are typically 12-18 students with a student-teacher ratio of 7:1.
