Berkshire School
School Notes Overview:
Berkshire was founded in 1974 when the Farrell family purchased a small preschool named Lyonsdown, with 30 children enrolled. Berkshire grew quickly and more classrooms were needed. Fortunately, there was property available for the school to grow. In 1981, the elementary building was constructed. The middle school and gymnasium followed in 1986. The Berkshire Infant Center is located across the street from the gymnasium. The school continues to grow as the Florida Child Scholarship Program is now available to families in Florida. Thus, a private school education will no longer be impossible. Berkshire school maintains top educators to make sure that as Berkshire grows, the best education possible remains the cornerstone of the school. We, at Berkshire School, believed that each child is endowed with his or her own individual capabilities and characteristics. We will provide to the best of our ability the type of education best fitted to the uniqueness of the child. To that end, we pledge to give each child every opportunity to acquire the ability to read and understand, write legibly and clearly, converse intelligently, cipher competently, and to instill in that child the qualities of democracy, truth, responsibility, respect, self-esteem, propriety, and morality. Our first and most important person is the child. We exist for the care and education of all children....
