Discovery Academy

The philosophy and curriculum of Discovery Academy was constructed to encourage thinkers and day dreamers, to never be content with the status quo, to stimulate students that are the doers in the laboratory of life, not content to contain their learning to the confines of four walls.
The innovators have always been those who questioned facts, who thought and dreamed beyond them.
Discovery Academy was designed to be a fresh and lively place--where you're energized, student and teacher alike--and when you walk in you never quite know what to expect and the place is jumping.
Not in a loud or out of control way, but a focused enthusiasm for learning, complete with hands on materials that they can use to test their own hypotheses.

Discovery Academy is an amazing school! My son has been there since he was three and will be going into third grade in the fall, along with his three year old brother. From the moment you walk through the front door, it's like a breath of fresh air! The decor & classrooms are so welcoming to students and really encourage creativity and emphasize the importance of dreams and imagination. You can clearly see that the teachers and staff truly care and desire the very best for each child. At three years old, my eldest son was coming home singing the continents, presidents of the US, states, capitals, coins, and learning Spanish and sign language! Now, as a rising third grader at Discovery, he received second place honors in the state for Noetic Math, reads on an 8th grade level, and teaches me new things every day! Just this morning he was explaining some science concepts that were foreign to me, leading me to ask, "How did you know that?!" :). And the best part of all...the teachers make it FUN! My boys are also excited to come to summer camp every day, with hands-on art and science projects, learning sign language, songs, and more! We are so thankful for Discovery Academy!!

I have both my children enrolled at Discovery and can give a point of view for both the Kindergarten-3rd grade and 4th-8th grade programs. Both of my children started at Discovery when they were in Kindergarten. My oldest is now in the 4th-8th grade program and he is always busy learning new things, including hands-on science experiments, latin words, keeping a historical journal, an award winning drama program, debate, world geography (last year my oldest competed in the national geography contest and received a perfect score!), music, and architecture. There are several project-based activities that students engage in throughout the year. My youngest is in the K-3rd grade program learning through hands-on science experiments, Shakespearean play performance, art classes that teach famous artists and masterpieces, as well as hands-on math, language arts activities, cursive writing, and many exciting social studies projects throughout the year. --Busy mom of 2

Discovery ranks number one in Florida for three consecutive years in the AMC (math competition and top 1 percent in the world, along with Korea, and Japan. Every year our Thespians get critic choice awards and superiors at district and state. Our students participate in student congress, debate supreme court cases, and have a mock presidential debate scheduled for November. Our graduating Science students are able to get a waiver for AP Biology in the 9th grade! Above all, our students love to come to school, and never want to leave. When they graduate they visit often and our older students are now bringing their own children. Discovery just celebrated its 25th year!
