School Notes Overview:

Maria Reed Montessori Pre-school was the inspiration of Maria Eva Reed. Maria was born in Dusseldorf, Germany, in 1915. Her experiences in the United States started in 1935 when she was an exchange student at the university of Vermont in Burlington. Maria Reed Montessori Pre-School is dedicated to educating today's youth using a technique inspired by Maria Montessori, in which children are taught hands-on rather than by watching. Maria Reed Montessori Pre-school Provides a special environment for young children of all races, creeds and social backgrounds. Here, children are taught perhaps the most important lessons of all: To respect and work with each other, and to enjoy learning. A child can work with other children in one subject, younger children in another, and still have social interaction with children their own age. This allows children to progress at their own speed and eliminates the public school problem of "skipping" or "holding back" those who do not fit in automatically. With the Montessori method, a child grows in self-confidence, self-discipline, self-reliance, organization and the ability to concentrate. The teaching materials at Maria Reed Montessori Pre-school are interesting to look at and touch. Each has a specific purpose and place so that children are able to teach themselves. Practical life exercises simulate a child's need to repeat motion, imitate adults, and develop fine motor control. The goal of these exercises is for the children to learn to care for their environment as a family and community member....
