The Palm Beach Sharks, representing the Jewish Community Center of the Greater Palm Beaches, competed at the 26th annual JCC Maccabi Games held Aug. 9-14 in San Antonio. For two years, student bullies tormented 15-year old Jeff Johnston of Cape Coral on Florida’s west coast. He was abused and subjected to hateful words that undermined his self-confidence. Fellow students used the Internet as a powerful weapon to spread rumors that Jeff was gay.
