School Notes Overview:
Byne Memorial Baptist School offers the abeka Christian curriculum exclusively to students in the pre-kindergarten through second grade. A combination of abeka and Bob Jones University Press curriculums are used in the middle and high school grades. The Accelerated Reading Program and the Hands-on Science application labs are a part of an enrichment program for all elementary-age students, Bible classes are taught every day. Middle school students follow a similar program in mathematics, science, social studies, English, literature and Bible. Physical education is a required course for Byne middle school. High school students are given a prescribed course of study to meet the standards leading toward a high school diploma. Those standards include: four years of Bible, English, Math; three years of Science and Math, two years of a foreign language, and one year of physical education/health. A sufficient number of electives are offered to complete the students’ minimum requirements. The curriculums used for the education of Byne students are college preparatory and meet or exceed the state of Georgia requirements for college entrance. Students desiring to receive a Byne Christian School diploma must complete the required academic program, which includes a total of twenty-two units obtained from the ninth through twelfth grades. To be eligible for a college-preparatory seal, a student must meet the college preparatory core curriculum requirements as mandated by the Georgia Department of Education. Byne Christian School does participate in the Hope scholarship and Star student programs of the state Department of Education....
