On a recent Wednesday morning, tears were shed, faces were somber and heads hung low inside St. Nicholas Church on Aurora's near East Side. Then it came time to sing the final hymn that would end 19 years of weekly morning Masses. The 123 students of Archbishop Romero Catholic School in Aurora filled St. Nicholas Church for their final Mass with classmates, teachers and staff Wednesday morning. Jean Scanlan wore many hats in her 69 years of life. She was once a Dominican nun.But she fell in love and became a wife; then a mother of two. The Rev. J. Robert Camacho has been with Sacred Heart Parish in Aurora for nine years, and he knows that for him the end is coming. You can hear the sadness in his voice as he talks about his imminent transfer to a parish in Freeport.
