JONESBORO — Mary Katherine Kline, a sixth-grader at Blessed Sacrament School, was named Arkansas Drug Abuse Resistance Education essay champion for an essay submitted last year.

In 1962 Jonesboro High School’s basketball team rode the contributions of a talented, senior-laden roster to a Class A state championship. On Monday the Jonesboro athletic community lost a major piece of that championship team.
