Driscoll Catholic High School
School Notes Overview:
Spring Open House on Sunday, May 3 is cancelled. For further information please call (630) 543-6310. MESSAGE FROM THE CHRISTIAN BROTHERS: After years of efforts to save Driscoll Catholic High School, the Christian Brothers of the Midwest realized that we do not have the resources to keep the school open. The realities of rapidly declining enrollment and the need for a multi-million dollar investment are inevitable. We have made the painful decision to close Driscoll at the end of this school year in June. Needless to say, this is a heartbreaking decision for our students, families, faculty and staff and the Christian Brothers. Counselors will be available to help students during this difficult time.. We are also helping to organize a recruiting day for students to learn about other Catholic high schools in the area. During this time of transition, one thing remains constant: all Driscoll students will be able to receive a Catholic education from other high schools in the Diocese of Joliet, which are offering priority placement for them in the coming school year. This ensures that the tradition of an academically rigorous education grounded in Catholic values can continue – which is the most important goal we as a community can have for our young people. We know that the Save Driscoll group was holding a fundraising campaign. We assume that the money they raised, which they have been holding in escrow, will be returned to the donors. Check their Web site for information. We are humbled and grateful for the outpouring of community support and prayers for Driscoll Catholic High School over these past few weeks. We thank our students and their families, faculty and staff, alumni, board, and community supporters for 43 years of heritage and a proud legacy. ...

School Notes:
- Driscoll Catholic High School is a member of the Lasallian Schools Association. Lasallian Schools are Catholic educational communities inspired by the vision of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, providing a human and Christian education to the young, especially the poor, in solidarity with the living tradition of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. The spirit of those in Lasallian schools is a spirit of faith and zeal. They view all things with the eyes of faith, do everything in the view of God and attribute all to God. The principal function of those in Lasallian schools consists of the work of evangelization and catechesis, determined to make the means of salvation available to young people through quality education and by an explicit proclamation of Jesus Christ. The school's activities focus on growth in faith. A spirit of prayer and an attentiveness to the presence of God animate the Lasallian school's identity. School personnel strive to touch the hearts of students participating in a shared mission. As ambassadors of Jesus Christ, they look upon their professional work as a ministry, opening others to the riches of God's grace and helping them to discover, appreciate and assimilate both human and Gospel values.

The third time very well could be the charm for the Rev. David Peck. St. Edward Central Catholic High School's new principal and superintendent knows its glossy linoleum halls well - after serving two different terms there in the 1980s and '90s.
