St. Thomas More School officially opened on September 19, 1960 with Grades 1 - 5. One new grade was added each year thereafter until the school reached the capacity of eight grades.     A way to a politician's heart might just be through a history project. Megan Heinz, as an eighth-grader at St. Thomas More Elementary School in Elgin, was a top finisher in the state's History Fair and got the chance to get to know Secretary of State Jesse White in the process.
