Saint Dominic High school offers a college preparatory, value-centered Catholic education to young women and men on Long Island.  The key to Saint Dominic`s perennial attractiveness and success is this: the administration, faculty and staff respond to each student in a personal and caring manner, treating her or him as an individual with unique needs, aspirations, and potential.  Very simply here, "You are a name, not a number!"With an average class size of twenty-five and a student to faculty ratio of 12:1, Saint Dominic students excel in a curriculum designed to challenge the learning potential of each student.  While offering a NYS Board of Regents Curriculum, students are able to go beyond state standards by taking college level, advanced placement, honors courses as well as our newly designed STEM program.  These programs of study surpass the requirements set by New York State.  Each student is required to take four years of math and science.  99% of Saint Dominic graduates going on to college.  In addition, the Class of 2015 secured approximately $14.2 million in academic, athletic and merit-based scholarships. The new Science, Technology, and Communications Center consists of five state-of-the-art labs.  Saint Dominic has built and maintained research partnerships with Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and The Oyster Bay Waterfront Center.Saint Dominic offers diverse programs in fine arts and athletics, allowing students to participate at a level consistent with their interests and abilities.  Our school has one of the premier indoor athletic facilities on Long Island, the Monsignor James E. Collins Center.  We also have the beautiful Fine Arts Center.  The Charles B. Wang Saint Dominic Playing Fields, just 2.4 miles away from our main campus, is comprised of two baseball, two softball, two lacrosse/soccer fields, four tennis courts, and a retreat house making it among the finest comprehensive facilities on Long Island.  St. Dominic High School provides an exceptional learning experience on a beautiful campus in Oyster Bay!.

School Notes:

  • St. Dominic High School is now in its eighth decade of offering a value-centered, Catholic education to young women and men on Long Island. In fact, St. Dominic is honored to hold the distinction of being the oldest high school in the Diocese of Rockville Centre. St. Dominic is and always has been a parish high school parishioners proudly refer to their high school as "The Parish Gem" yet from its earliest days it also has attracted students from communities outside the local area. That it has consistently been able to do so is no accident; the hope and intent of the founding pastor, Monsignor Charles J. Canivan, was to make St. Dominic Parish "an educational center that included a high school of outstanding merit." The mission of St. Dominic High School is to educate young people in a community dedicated to Gospel values and Catholic teachings. Ministering to students of diverse abilities, St. Dominic High School strives to achieve wholeness through personal holiness, academic excellence, and social responsibility. The pride of this community is its celebration of a student's growth and individuality.
