Lake Tahoe School's Community Quadcopter Programming Challenge - scheduled for Monday, January 22nd from 5:30-7:30 pm - offers an exciting opportunity to Tahoe Basin parents to engage children through the magic of emerging interactive technologies in the LTS school MakerSpace. "We`ll teach you the basics of programming in Apple`s Swift programming language, and then how to programmatically control a mini Parrot quadcopter," said Lake Tahoe School MakerSpace Teacher Mr. Russ Bradford. "My students at LTS have really enjoyed this particular programming lesson, as you can write your own program to control the Quadcopter to follow a course through the halls of Lake Tahoe School. "After a period of experimentation, everyone present has the opportunity to compete, and the first person or team to complete the course will get to keep their quadcopter! You are not required to compete to attend this event and will still have the opportunity to learn to program and fly mini quadcopters."No programming experience is required, and Lake Tahoe School will provide each team with a quadcopter to compete. Racers should be 10+ years of age, although younger students are invited to observe and learn the fundamentals. While those who would like to observe are welcome to show up at any point in time during this special event, all those planning to program and participate in the challenge are asked to RSVP. Lake Tahoe School offers courses in Computer Aided Design (CAD), Java Programming, Digital Photography, Woodworking, and Swift Programming, among other offerings.
