- In the Lower School, the social studies-based curriculum integrates with the study of literacy, math, and science. Specialist teachers offer art, music, movement, physical education and gymnastics, Spanish, technology and woodworking. In the Middle School, the increasingly departmentalized program includes humanities, math, science, world languages (French, Mandarin, Spanish), performing/visual arts, physical education and inter-scholastic athletics. Students also learn responsible decision-making through the Adolescent Issues Program. In the High School, students take six required majors: English, history, mathematics, performing/visual arts, science and world languages (French, Spanish, Mandarin). Over 30 departmental and interdisciplinary elective courses are offered each year. In addition, students may supplement their coursework with undergraduate courses at NYU and/or individual Honors Projects. Extracurricular opportunities include athletics, performance, publications, and community service. College guidance is highly individualized, and our students go on to attend a wide range of excellent colleges and universities.

This place is my family, I couldn't imagine what I would have done if I had not attended this school. I have nothing but good things to say about this home. Although I have moved on, I am constantly reminded of what I had learned during my ten years at this wonderful school. Every person at this institution had been nothing but kind and generous. I cannot begin to list what amazing individuals are associated this environment that I consider my childhood. I truly believe that I would not be the same if I had not attended this school. This place means everything to me. This school has molded me into the person that I am today and whoever I will be in the future. This environment has made me an extremely accepting, intelligent and kind person and I believe that all of these qualities have come from being a student at LREI.

My daughter attended the high school. It was a perfect fit; she received a scholarship to Clark University and was awarded a full scholarship for her Masters from Clark. I would be happy to speak to anybody who needs more information.

I am a former student. I moved to San Francisco 43 years ago and taught elementary school for thirty seven years. I test bilingual students now and I sometimes work as a sub. I was named SF teacher of the year twice. I have worked at over thirty schools. LRSH is the best school in the world hands down. Most schools are just trying to find their way. LRSH is so far ahead of its time and its been there since the fifties. Thank you for helping me find my way.
