  • Lutherbrook Academy is a therapeutic day school established in 2001 to serve children and youthin surrounding communities, as well as Lutherbrook Child and Adolescent Center. The academy serves children within one or several special needs: emotional disability, specific learning disability, other health impairment, cognitive disability, speech and language impairment, traumatic brain injury and autism spectrum disorder.
  • The operational model is based upon philosophical tenets of Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) and Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS). The faculty is licensed by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).
  • The academy resides on sixteen acres shared with Lutherbrook Child and Adolescent Center.
  • The curriculum is a culmination of philosophical perspectives founded on child-centered values, evidence-driven and aligned with ISBE Common Core Standards.
  • Students are placed through the Individual Education Plan (IEP) process by their home school districts. The academy was established out of a tenacious vision for student empowerment and success.
  • The goal of the program is to develop self-sufficient young people, ages 14 through 21, who have the ability to succeed within the families, vocation and communities where they reside. Lutherbrook Academy builds partnerships between school, home and community for student success.
  • It is rooted in the belief that all students can learn and are entitled to a quality education in a safe, nurturing environment.
  • Children flourish in an environment where they can develop their strengths, critical-thinking skills and are increasingly encouraged to assume responsible roles in society.
