Montessori Pebbles

  • Montessori Pebbles was started in September of 1997 and since then is the dedicated to the education of children in an environment designed to stimulate and develop the child's love for learning.
  • The staff and teachers of Montessori Pebbles see themselves as partners with parents in a team whose focus is to help children grow happily and healthfully.
  • We strive to create a learning environment that is safe and comfortable, a place that promotes inspiration and growth academically, socially and emotionally.
  • A Montessori environment for 3 to 6 year old is designed to entice children to activity.
  • Each carefully prepared material is considered a "motive for activity", through which a child develops confidence, self-esteem, and consideration for others, as well as basic cognitive understandings.
  • The Montessori 3 to 6 environment is divided into five areas of work.
  • Kindergarten, the culminating year of the Primary cycle, provides an extraordinary opportunity for 5 and 6 year old to develop their leadership skills.
  • Mixing ages provides our kindergarten children with abundant opportunities to develop leadership skills and responsibility and gives the children greater social diversity.
  • This is the 'leadership year'. They have friends of all ages.
  • The mixed ages and widely varied achievement levels of the children greatly minimize comparisons and competition, which are so damaging to young children.
  • It also does wonders for a kindergarten child's self-esteem to be admired and looked up to by the younger children.
  • Everything that children have learned in previous years comes together in Kindergarten, giving children a readiness to meet new challenges.
