  • The Prairie Learning Center provides a high quality, therapeutic group experience designed to help at-risk youth examine and modify their behavior.
  • The goal of the Prairie Learning Center is to provide each student the opportunity to develop a core of basic life skills.
  • The objectives of our program are to teach social control, socially acceptable time management, and to develop a positive self-image.
  • Prevention, intervention, independent life skills training and the use of the outdoors as a stepping stone to success, are the core of the PLC approach.
  • The program is designed for adolescents with out-of-control, antisocial or delinquent behavior.
  • The Prairie Learning Center operates under the belief that individuals who are committing antisocial acts are doing so as a matter of choice.
  • They devote their energies to overpowering others to serve their own purposes.
  • They have had "one more chance" too many times. They have a strong sense of entitlement and often portray themselves as victims when they are actually victimizing and abusing others.
  • They lack the necessary effort or motivation for productive activities such as school and employment.
  • These adolescents have exhibited rebellious, irresponsible behavior in their families and in their communities.
