St. Gertrude High School is just the perfect fit for our daughter. We were a little apprehensive at first because she had been at public school in Chesterfield until now but the transition could not have gone any smoother. St. Gertrude is a family- one that extends way beyond school walls. The education is challenging yet fun at the same time. I know we made the right decision when she would come home and tell me all about her day freshman year which was something she didn't do in middle school. The size of the school is perfect and she has opened herself up to take on challenges she would not have been afforded at a large public high school. After her freshman year you could tell she was ready to take on anything. Her organizational skills, communication and time management had all changed for the best. She is well on her way and will be ready for the rigors of college academia and living away from home. The friendships she has will last forever and as many would think this is cliche' it's true. The minute you drive on campus and see the girls you know that they truly enjoy each other's company and cherish what they have. The size of her class has allowed her to meet so many girls yet have intimate experiences so as to get to know everyone in a group as well as individually. Spiritually she is thriving and finds peace at times that in the past may have been hard for her to handle. As a parent I cannot say enough about SGHS and the community. Support starts at the top and the administration is readily available for parents. Everyone at school not only knows my daughter but knows me, her dad, and even her grandparents. That speaks worlds to me. We thought it would be difficult to afford private school but I will say that if you don't submit scholarship applications you will never know if you qualify. The school wants your daughter to come to SGHS and they will show you the different avenues you can take to make it affordable. I never took part in much at school when she was younger but now I love to participate. It's rewarding being able to work alongside other family members and achieve goals for the school, their class and even individual families. My favorite part which I never thought I would ever understand is Song Contest BEST THING EVER! If you can look it up on YouTube you must. If you can ever make it out in person (post Covid of course) you must see at least one Song Contest. The biggest surprise for me was how much my daughter LOVES and obsesses about it come January 1. Fun fun fun!!!!!!We are blessed to have found SGHS and I would encourage any family who wants a parochial education in an incredible setting with fantastic teachers and staff to come check out Saint Gertrude High School. We are now collectively the BSOR- Benedictine Schools of Richmond alongside our brother school Benedictine College Prep. We have a new building going up as we speak for the girls to hopefully open in 2023!!! So much going on, so many opportunities and so many loving families! We wouldn't have it any other way!

I can say with utmost confidence that sending our daughter to Saint Gertrude High School has been one of the best decisions we have made with our daughter. She has grown so much academically in such a short period of time. The courses were an adjustment from public school, as they are definitely more rigorous, particularly in reading/writing, but she's had tremendous support from staff and teachers. We now have much more confidence that she will be prepared for college. Due to the smaller size of classrooms, Saint Gertrude's provides an opportunity for a more intimate relationship with all of her peers, teachers and other faculty. My daughter says it feels like an extended family. We really couldn't be happier with our experience. The school grounds are beautiful and the connections that our daughter has made, we feel certain, will last a lifetime. Academics are paramount at this school, but weaved in every day is encouragement and occasions to build personal character related to kindness, acceptance and understanding of each other.

Marketing the small private school can be done affordably and effectively. We suggest five easy steps to make that happen.
Solid parent-teacher relationships have always been an important part of K-12 education. During this interminable pandemic, parent-teacher relationships have become even more important.
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed schools profoundly. It has affected teaching and activities. We look at these changes and how they impact our lives.
