School Notes
- The Village School of North Bennington (VSNB) is a pre-K through grade six independent school located in North Bennington, in southwestern Vermont. The school serves approximately 130 students, nearly all from the surrounding school district, which includes North Bennington and part of Shaftsbury, Vermont.
- The school emphasizes nurture and challenge; along with community and greater world focus, exploration and accomplishment. Students at the Village School are challenged with intellectual engagement and meaningful active understanding of the world around them. At the same time, we emphasize recognition of the needs, ideas and contributions of each individual child.
- In addition to regular instruction, VSNB offers special classes in visual arts, music, media studies and physical education, as well as special education. Before and after school care, extra-curricular activities and clubs provide additional opportunities.
- Creating a school that is warm and caring and helps our students to be interested in life is a key objective. But beyond that, we want everyone who walks through our doorsteachers, parents, staff, volunteersto feel the sense of excitement and enthusiasm that has blossomed here at VSNB since its rebirth as an independent town academy, in 2013.
- Its a part of our philosophy that children who feel safe, secure, and nurtured will be successful learners. Toward that goal, rather than simply providing an atmosphere of education, VSNB creates an environment for education based on the mission above.
